During the conference "New trends of professional training in armed forces and security forces", held May 23rd 2024 and organized by the Department of Social Sciences and Languages, three contributions were made in the language section. For an introduction Mgr. Eva Révayová, PhD. presented the project: Implementation of e-learning forms of teaching foreign languages in the environment of the Department of Defense, in which foreign language teachers engage in scientific research. Then she presented her research on the role of collocations in a military context (The Role of Collocations in Foreign Languages). In the second contribution, research was presented on Foreign language teaching for cadets supported by teaching in LMS moodle, in which Mgr. Katarína Hološová showed the results of a survey on the need for digital resources for cadets. The questionnaire was filled out by all second-year cadets who will take the STANAG 6001 exam next year. The third contribution was made by Lieutenant Mgr. Michaela Zátureczká (Integration of the military program into the teaching of the English language). She proposed the creation of three textbooks and three workbooks for AFA cadets. The content would be applied to the specific position of the cadets and focus on the needs of their personalities as well as their status as students and soldiers.
Our foreign guests, two teachers and two officers from the University of Defense in Belgrade joined the language section too. A discussion took place there about the need for digitalization and the importance of authentic sources in learning a foreign language. They themselves stated that they prefer and use these resources. At the same time, the need to create own materials for CJ teaching was emphasized, as the existing literature is insufficient and unsuitable for military purposes.
At the end of the meeting, the both parties expressed their intention and desire to continue mutual interaction.
