The Department of Physical Education and Sports is a pedagogical, methodical and professional physical education workplace of the Armed Forces of Slovak Republic. It ensures the teaching of AFA students, scientific and research activities in the field of physical education process, physical education for officers, sports and physical education activities as hobby in individual organizational forms.

As a professional workplace of the Slovak Ministry of Defense for special physical training, it trains army specialists for this area.

The department is authorized to award qualifications:

• Instructor of special physical training;

• Instructor (trainer) of military-practical climbing;

• Instructor (trainer) of military-practical swimming.
