C-IED Course for Ukrainian Armed Forces at the Armed Forces Academy in Liptovský Mikuláš

The Armed Forces Academy of General Milan Rastislav Štefánik in Liptovský Mikuláš hosted from 14 to 17 October 2024 a specialized course focused on Countering Improvised Explosive Devices (C-IED). The course was designed for the Ukrainian Armed Forces and aimed to expand their professional knowledge and skills in existing doctrines, the NATO three pillar approach of C-IED which includes Defeat the Device, Prepare the Forces and Attack the Networks focused on exploitation after detection, and neutralization of improvised explosive devices. A total of 14 officers and non-commissioned officers from Ukraine, along with two interpreters, participated in the training.
The course was organized by the Joint Force Command (HQ JFC Naples), based in Naples, Italy, which sent two experienced instructors to Slovakia. The instructors provided participants with the latest knowledge and procedures used in NATO operations and conflict zones.
At the conclusion of the course, all parties involved expressed their satisfaction with its execution and emphasized the importance of continuing such activities. These courses contribute to strengthening interoperability between NATO and its partners, such as Ukraine, which is a key element in the collective efforts toward international security.
